Career Clarity 

I’m Heather Petherick, founder of Career Clarity, and I’ve been there—and back.

I was born on the cusp between Gen X and Gen Y, and am intimately aware of the unique struggles and perspectives of today’s new professional.  I know from experience that even the best-laid plans can take you to the wrong place unless you truly honour yourself.

I hold a masters degree in Management, specializing in Human Resources from the University of Lethbridge.

I’m also a charter member of the International Coach Federation and the Calgary Association of Professional Coaches, and am proud to be the only Canadian career coach to be an Affiliate of the Rockport Institute, famed for helping thousands of clients worldwide through difficult career transitions for over 20 years.

So you could say that I walk the talk.  

I am truly passionate about helping others in my generation realign their focus to work towards what really suits them, instead of what society expects. 

The Passion

My passion for career coaching comes from having endured my own career crisis at the age of 25...

Back in my I was “overachiever:” Headstrong, full of potential, naïve in thinking everything would work itself out, and on the fast track to big things.

It wasn’t too long before I was hit in the face with the “real world” issues that often confront people who don’t have a deep appreciation for who they are, and a cohesive plan on how best to apply their magic in the world.

My own turning point was the day I hired a coach…

…someone who was able to help me understand that no matter how hard I worked, life wouldn’t get any better as long as I was working on pleasing other people. 

I learned that true satisfaction (and success, it turns out!) comes from work that is both meaningful to you and that leverages your natural way of doing things. 

It wasn’t long after that I turned to coaching, so I could help others experience the same feelings of accomplishment, personal pride and authentic self-confidence that I experienced when things turned around for me. 

I truly believe that we all deserve to feel that way.
